I've seen some of this guys casts, they are truly amazing to look at.

It is truly a wonder of te world....that we destroyed. Man i guess we didnt really think this out...

Wow it's cool what they found, but it sucks they had to genocide the ants to look at it.

i wouldn't worry too much about the ants... there are plenty of others, and given how researchers usually go about their business they probably did something to drive them out of the colony first... or given the fact that its the middle of a farm field, the ants had already moved on to some other place with more trees...

anyway, what they found is AMAZING the structure involved was enormous! i wonder if they were able to find a way to transport the colony (in pieces perhaps?) to a place where they could put it on display....

Social insects are especially amazing, and we'll never fully understand all it takes for that kind of society to function perfectly like one organism.
I'm sure that scientist are very careful as which species they choose, and they won't interfere with the balance of the ecosystem.
When rebelling against the animal violence, choosing the battles is a skill you have to learn.

Watch them do further research and find it it was THE biggest ant colony in the world, and they just ruined it.
