Meh...if you have seen the movie (The Beguiled) the scene works. The character is a Union soldier hiding from the Confederates and he cons the women into liking him so they will hide him. So he kisses her to make her feel grown up and special. If you note she's quick to point out she's almost 13 which is a sign to the viewer she wants to feel older than she is. So...meh.
