Best iPhone Games

Vector Runner iPhone

Truly the greatest iPhone game ever gifted to man by the newly destitute Greek gods on Mount Olympus. Also available for the iPad.

Jet Car Stunts

Jet Car Stunts is an awesome looking, fun, exciting, but sometimes maddeningly frustrating vehicular platformer. Think Mirror’s Edge meets Super Mario Galaxy meets Stunt Race FX. (There’s also a Lite version.)

Siberian Strike

This is the most fun and best controlling shmup on the iPhone. You take control of one of three ace pilots and try to destroy the dastardly Soviet war machine. Unfortunately, this almost perfect arcade style iPhone game is marred by some completely out of place first person levels, and the occasional crash bug. (Check out the Lite version first.)

Dizzypad

Dizzypad is like a relaxed summer-day-on-the-porch-with-a-glass-of-sun-tea version of Doodlejump. Your goal is to laxidasically leap from lilypad to lilypad without falling into the water too many times. It’s harder than it sounds, but the explosion of joy you receive each time you unlock a chubby little frog makes it well worth the effort.

N.O.V.A. Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance

The controls are not great, the voice acting is bad, there are not enough enemy character models and it’s very much a Halo ripoff, BUT this is the best FPS on the iPhone by far and it’s actually pretty fun. (There’s also a Lite Version so you can see if you like it.)

Oh, the Huge Manatee! iPhone

Oh, the Huge Manatee! is now the greatest Manatee themed game on the iPhone, and I can say that without any hyperbole. Use the tilt control to dodge sea life raining from the sky, and try to survive for as long as you can with the help of bubble shields, grenades, super shoes, and an uzi! Also available on the iPad!

Plants vs. Zombies

A quirky tower defense game where you plant flowers to ward off a colorful array of advancing zombies. The only real problem with this game is that it takes too long to become challenging, and even then it never quite becomes hard enough. That said, it’s a very addicting and fun time waster.

Bejeweled 2

It’s Bejeweled… but for your iPhone. Everybody’s played it. The real meat in these potatoes lies in Bejeweled Blitz, the Facebook integrated one minute games where you can compete against your friends for the best score. The winner gets the glory and the losers are banished to Monster Island.

Peggle

Peggle is the million dollar combination of Plinko, pachinko and some sort of futuristic designer drugs. Awesome gameplay, great presentation and tons of replay value make this my favorite iPhone game. I have an Extreme Fever and the only prescription is more Peggle!

Doodle Jump

We’re starting something new around here – iPhone game recommendations!

First up, the classic iPhone game Doodle Jump. It’s a tilt controlled game where you must guide your character up an unending series of platforms without falling. If you only ever buy one iPhone game, this is the one to get!
