Cute video. Agreed that BLACK bears are extremely timid. But she's making the false assumption that ALL bears are timid. I'd love to see her try doing that to a GRIZZLY!!! They are not as "friendly" as Black Bears and they will maul someone who gets too close.
This is a woman who knows what she's talking about Ares... You are someone looking for funny and cute videos on the internet... I would take her opinion over yours when it comes to this.
The point should be 'live and let live' not 'you can charge at the bear and it won't attack you.'
I'm pretty sure Steve Irwin died 'cause he started forgetting that wild animals are as their name states wild..and unpredictable.
I've always wanted to fight a land mammals. There a lot of deer on my campus but its not fair because they're herbivores.
First off, what see is doing is extremely dangerous. As you can tell be the leaves on the ground she is with the bear in late or mid fall. a period when bears change there diet from less protein based food to more carbs(Nuts, grasses, Etc.) and generally become more docile(Not timid) before their hybernation period. Any other time of the year this bear would be more active and possibly if it felt threatened would do more than "Bluff" charge. It people like this who try to describe animals as misjudged and unknown who ended up getting not only themselves but other people killed. just ask Timothy Treadwell.
She was an idiot. That is harassment of wildlife. Unfortunately if the bear had made contact with her, the bear would have been destroyed. I personally think it should be the other way around.
I'm sure she knows more than I do, but I know one thing, when a grizzly attacks (and I MEAN attack. Not "bluffing") the person either narrowly escapes with their life or doesn't live to tell anyone. I admire that she's trying to save these animals, but she's putting herself at risk, despite the fact she chose the most harmless of bears besides the teddy.
This woman IS fairly right when in comes to black bears. They are MUCH smaller and Much more docile than brown bears. Grizzleys, however, as other people have mentioned, are VERY different. that little bear there was snack sized. Grizzley's and polar bears are huge, and can kill most animals with one swipe. And Polar bears are known to be the most violent and prone to attack. A black bear may run. A grizzley won't.
Yeah, I'm siding with Bar here- what she's doing is dangerous. She may know what she's doing and what she's talking about, but she gives a false impression in this video that bears will not try to kill you if they see you as in their territory. They like their space, especially if they have young. And, since you never know whether they have young, you should never do this. Ever. At all.
