And I agree: if it's over 90° it can't be more than vertical- I have no idea how they perceive it in a firstplace.
If you use a ground as one angle arm then 97° is an obtuse angle and like cynn said- it slows you down.

Now, if they for some completely idiotic reason used an imaginary horizontal angle arm in the sky, than the tracks would make a reflex angle and then the increased speed would make more sense.
You just have to imagine a reflex angle and then riding on the inner side of the arm that makes an angle.
