Hey GEFStryker,

Great idea, just post a link to the door you built and you can be declared winner...until then, the opposite applies.

So what exactly hindered you from installing a wall mounted short range motion panel that you could swipe your hand over? Or maybe an RFID reader and a dog tag chip? Or a 10-20 foot occupancy sensor angled at 80 degrees to the floor like any one of the thousands of electronic doors installed in most large retail outlets across the country that has been using automated doors for at least a decade? Plenty of tech out there for relatively cheap, just takes a bit of ingenuity and a trip to your local electronics store. So, in my humble opinion, I would say you fail, both at naming videos and not trying to actually be creative with your projects. Better luck next time.

"'Fun. Have you considered a motion sensor in place of the push? button?'

@loKey73 'Yes, of course I wish I could, but the door is in the middle of a hallway and it would open every time someone walked by. I decided a button would be better.'

Like what duck wariorrandom said in the old show it was people that moved the doors well in a blooper reel one person didn't open the door so when I believe it was Spach and Kirk walking of the bridge Kirk expecting the door to open kept walking but instead ran into the door head on because the door person had fallen asleep.

In the original series the doors actually had people behind them to pull then open and push them shut. The sound was for effect.

Totally lame...he has to push a freaking button! All that effort and he doesn't include a motion detector?

I wonder how much force it exerts when it closes. Would it hurt if you got your hand or something caught in the middle? Is it sort of unsafe, in that respect?
