Doom Classic

I previously said that N.O.V.A. was the best FPS on the iPhone, but that crown has been passed to Doom Classic. This port of the original Doom looks better than the PC version, and the lack of mouse look actually makes it much easier to control than N.O.V.A.

I finished the game today. I hadn't realized, but it includes the fourth episode from Ultimate Doom, Thy Flesh Consumed. Those levels are kind of a mixed bag -some easy, some incredibly hard, and some of them have graphical/sound glitches. Still, this has been money very well spent for me since I got about three weeks of toilet adventures out of it.

I finished Episode 2 today. This is the first time I've played through this game without using god mode.

Honestly, I don't see the point of spending 300 bucks on a PS3 if you can buy a cool graphics card and play it on PC.

And I got what Admin meant.

I didn't write that last sentence very well initially. I didn't mean that the iPhone version controlled better than the PC one, but that not having mouse look meant it controlled better than other iPhone FPSs that do. There's just something about having one less thing to do on that tiny screen.

Okay...I'm really coming to hate these iPhone posts!

Here's how it goes, "oh, cool, Doom!" then I notice it's for iPhone, "ahhhhhhhhhh!"

Like that every time.

And Whys, I agree about PC games...they are still my favorite.

I must respectfully disagree oh wise and illustrious Admin. Mouse look is the only thing that makes first person shooters playable, IMHO. The loss of the PC as a gaming platform and the lack of mouse look on gaming consoles, is probably about the worst thing to ever happen to first person shooters, IMNSHO.

Doom was my first love on the PC and I spent many an hour building home made deathmatch levels. The game was brilliant for its time.
