Just because he’s right doesn’t make it any less hilarious.

Rest in peace. May we all discover are calling and pursue it to our very end with the same dedication, commitment, and clarity of purpose.
TopMonkey, but ignorance is evil. It's the very root. ;)
I agree with AbsintheAndCarnations. I'm just saying there are plenty of examples of time better spent in the U.S. senate.
Also, RJ...while there may be some senators who spend this kind of energy on human rights, it's isn't often. Also...DYOG is not my news source...so just because it doesn't show up here...well...I still know about it...
And, as much as I am against dog fighting, I don't think his anger is well placed. Dog fighting, cock fighting, and bull fighting all stem from cultural roots and as such are continued more through ignorance than evil. I think education more than anger is in order.
But Felis, dogs do taste good, in fact some breeds are outright delish, hang around the orient and maybe you'd get a taste.
It reminds me so much of the gym teacher from The Simpsons- BOMBARDMENT!
Why do you assume no one has ever made an impassioned plea for human rights before the senate? It happens quite often, but the videos aren't shared on DYOG because they frankly aren't very funny.
The senator's anger is well placed, but he could have expressed it a bit more eloquently. Torturing dogs until they're half-mad killers is indeed barbarous, but couldn't he have taken the idea a little further than that?
felis20, excellent point. Factory farming is BARBARIC. Personally, I do care and buy free range meats when ever possible. But the industry itself needs to change. If for no other reason than because factory farming leads to the creation of deadly strains of flu virus. Think petri dish. BARBARIC! And yeah, dog fighting bad.
...He does realize that preaching is for clergymen, right? It just sounds weird coming from a government official...
And I agree with Absinthe. Why the hell does he care so much about dogfighting? Especially when we don't treat other animals any better.
If dogs tasted better, and people didn't find them cute, we wouldn't have any problem with breeding and slaughtering them under squalid, cramped conditions.
I'm not saying I care all that much about the way we treat our livestock, myself, I'm just saying that his anger is misplaced and shallow...
Someone stole my notes! It's barbaric! BARBARIC!
AbsintheAndCarnations is on to something. Reminds me of the now infamous statement from Madeleine Albright...
During his presidency, Bill Clinton presided over the most devestating regime of economic sanctions in history that the UN estimated took the lives of as many as a million Iraqis, the vast majority of them children. In May of 1996, 60 Minutes aired an interview with Madeline Albright, who at the time was Clinton"s UN Ambassador. Correspondent Leslie Stahl said to Albright, “We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that”s more children than died in Hiroshima. And—and you know, is the price worth it?"
Madeline Albright replied “I think this is a very hard choice, but the price—we think the price is worth it."
It's always easy to justify things...especially when "We" think its right.
I wish senators would make this kind of impassioned plea for, you know, people, sometimes.
He's too old for this ****!
its funny...and then its not funny....and then it just makes me sad somewhere deep inside.
