You have to pause halfway through, you can't die while paused.
LVL 28 IS IMPOSSIBLE, PLZ HELP, I TIMED IT EXACTLY RIGHT FOR MAXIMUM SPEED AND DISTANCE, BUT I STILL DIE!!!!!!

i broke it by pausing as i finished a level. stuck on pause on the following level and it won't unpause

Nika, you have obviously never had a girlfriend, especially not one with mild to severe OCD. After that, 1000 buttons is simple.
