Cube Colossus

Hooray! It’s the weekend. Who’s got exciting plans? I’m not doing much, just gonna catch up on True Blood episodes and pick the porcupine quills out of my lips. Hey, don’t judge – those things look just like groundhogs from far away.

whew. finally got excalibur. have to beat level 19 with the light knife fo rthat lasst stupid acheivement haha. loki was really difficult at first, i used the beam less powerful than excalibur, and the odin shell, try to get that 160k+ chain so you get your overdrive +50% when you get hit, i had to use 2 overdrives to beat him, get as close as you can while in OD and hope for the best...oh, when he's far away, you can easily dodge his attacks, but he moves fast so you're bound to get hit.

I have no idea of what is going on half the time. But no matter how irritated I get, I can't help thinking this is a great game.. !

Hmm, looking back at my last comment, I sound like I used AMU-03 for most of the game. That is quite wrong- I used that ship only for the Act 20 and the duel with Loki. Most of the time I was using AMU-02 Heimdall, as my danmaku skills are absolute crap these days. Somehow I was better at it when I was in elementary school...

Heh, just beat the game today. I did a combo of missiles and gatling in order to go though it. Even though everyone seems to like the Valkyrie, I thought it wasn't worth the armor reduction deal. I ended up beating level 20 with the armor/sheild regenerator AMU and using the Falcon.

As for Loki, it was again the Falcon missiles as my weapon of choice, along with Odin.

Nice game, but the Engrish could use some work.

You have to finish Act 19 using the gatling gun that you started the game with.

I've beaten the game twice now (once here, once on Newgrounds). The first time through, I used Dagger (tier 3 Gatling- you get more hits in than with any of the other weapons), and AMU-03 Valkyrie (for the time disrupt ability- you can get a TON of hits in). The second time through, I did a bit of prep by unlocking Excalibur (beam Gatling FTW!)- more damage than the PST Lance (tier 3 beam), and far faster fire rate than the Swallow or Falcon.

Personally, I prefer using the Swallow for multiple fast enemies, and the Falcon for pesky bosses like Millie and Loki. Otherwise, the Gatling weapons are quite effective, if you can aim- the trick is to use the targeting offsets ('A' and 'D' keys, along with 'S' to reset the offset; this is critical for quickly changing your angle of fire). Multipath weapons are only useful against the huge cubes, and not much else as they're quite weak. The mines are just worthless novelties, as they're slow and difficult to use.

Lastly, the duel with Loki. Boy howdy, this guy is tough. Both times I went to max upgrades, and both times I was reduced to using the Falcon, as Loki flits around too much for me to get a good bead with any of the Gatling weapons. The second time through I tried using Axia, but Loki's too small of a target. As for the choice of AMU, the first time I used AMU-03 since AMU-S Odin was buggy (the berserker from AMU-01 was missing); second time through I was stuck with my laptop's pointing stick, so I needed AMU-S's invincibility (and the berserker thing does quite a bit of damage).

Cube Colossus is great because of the upgrade system, but the game becomes laughably easy after you unlock everything (AMU-X Loki + Excalibur absolutely decimates everything in sight). Then again, that's the reward for toiling away at the game. ;)

Excellent game with good music, upgrades and weapon choices. I'll admit, level 20 was a toughie... but with max upgrades and the Time-stop ship I was able to pull it off. Only 2 flaws are the Targeting system and the massive amount of Typos. My favorite weapons are the "Swallow" and "Falcon" missiles cuz I like homing weapons ;P

oh my stats at the time:
70 shield
60 energy
70 attack

August 16th, 2009 at 7:12 am some guy says:

wow lvl 20 is hard, took a lot of tries, here is how I finally manage to do it *SPOILER*

1. Used the 3rd AMU ( time stop one) and the highest beam weapon.
2. In the beginning I tried to gather at least 50000 damage chain then overdrive to get to 200000.
3.Then I played till she switches to her second weapon and got hit along the way but you WANT to get hit at least once so your overdrive will be almost if not completely full ( a benefit of a 200000 damage chain )
4.Only after she switched, and by that time I had a chain over 50000, I activated my overdrive for the SECOND time and got to 200000 again. Then I was able to activate a third overdrive to finish her.

5. In the last boss just kill the two side things first using the techniques above and you will win the way I did ( after many, many tries hehe XD )

Good game. And unlike Voidgale Arena (Fandrey's other game), there's no annoying voice-acting. Seems like the music's changed a bit since I first heard it...

Fun game. But did anyone else notice that there were grammar problems and spelling errors almost every line that came out of the characters' mouths?
