A little over one year ago, we broke the story on a bizarre feat of German engineering – Cheeseburger in a Can. After much debate over the actual appearance and palitability as described in the catalog, our loyal European reader Nika offered to hunt down the elusive hiker’s meal and answer all of our burning questions. Uh.. few weeks ago I saw the canned cheeseburgers and thought about testing them. I won't think such things again.

Since so many people seem to be commenting on this particular post I thought a little investigation was in order along the lines of "What other strange/average food that one normally wouldn't think would come in a can is encapsulated in such a delectable fashion?"

Now I won't be volunteering, with the same gusto as demonstrated by Nika, to pick up and document the eating of any of these delicacies (I've survive on a strict diet of ramen noodles and flies caught with chopsticks) but I invite any of the braver DYOGers and Videofantastic-ites (or Forum-ers) to do the honors.

I think that DYOG shirt is what makes the difference.
Judging by the comments on some other sites, not everyone enjoys photos of people spitting out food. I had no clue such people exist.

Yes yes, I know I don't go to the forums often. I hardly have time for DYOG & VF.
However, what has surprised me is this...when we interact with people on line we form visual images of them which are generally ninety degrees out of phase...however, you look just like I thought you would look...and that's just odd...not that you look odd...that you actually look like I imagined you would...how often do you think that happens just from reading posts?
Now that's just false advertising, damn you people that designed those hamburgers.
I know morhkt, I know. I feel physical pain every time I look at that photo.
And just to repeat once more: it smells exactly as it looks, and it tastes ten times worse than smell and look combined.
It's like some mathematical equation of foulness.
I think it's safe to say that if you're trekking and have a choice between this and berries that have laxative effect - go with the berries.

You are a brave person to eat something that looks worse than a cheese burger sitting out for 1 week and also being sat on all that time. I am glad I will never experience that. Also I think that if you’re trekking I think a lot of things taste better like the burger.
You shouldn't do weird eyebrow moves like that. It makes them look uneven.
Looks like the great accomplishment of capturing the elegance of a cheeseburger in a can is still up for grabs.

I don't know how soon I'll be able to work this phrase into a conversation (given it's myself and my friends, probably one to two days), but I guarantee I will do it at the first opportunity.

Like the inimitable pogo stick (a hot dog that has been wrapped in cornbread batter and deep fried) there are some things that nature itself cries out against.
