I believe the point is not to make money, but to simply retire in peace. The key seems to be having an equilibrium by keeping demand low, but not low enough to having oil at $10.

I know I commented twice before, but... oh man, got the world M.A.D. at 2201 with about 3,4 million $. It's a terrible scenario, but this is the result for having human burners everywhere... am I right?

True, Pete. It is a sad fact that the upper class controls our economy and day-to-day lives. We need to take control before things get out of hand. Politicians need not be "oiled." But, we need to be careful in the overthrowing of our upper-class. As displayed in the former Soviet Union, overthrows can be bloody, and can go way out of control if not done properly.
When this war ends, what will happen to us? Iraq will have full control of their oil. They oculd even potentially join OPEC and jack up prices so far that they could screw us over in revenge.
What will we do then? We must gain control of things. There's no other way around it. If our leaders continue to be "oiled," then our country could potentially fall to ruin. This is why we must overthrow the oil barons and take control ourselves, but in a controlled manner. After all, we don't another Russian Revolution now, do we?
It is unfortunate, Mick, but to quote the late and great George Carlin..."This country has been long paid for by the upper class". The fund candidates campaigns, give to charities & fund government programs. This, in turn, gives them a sort of status in the world beyond OUR normal world, that being the one of riches and politics, that makes them untouchable. If the wealthiest of this country don't want us drilling because they can make a few extra bucks...we will not be drilling...when they decide that the time has come where they can make even more money by beginning the drilling process...we start jacking up prices to an unpayable state till we have no other choice and..well...you see how things ae going right now. We only see the parts of the story we are told we can see and it will always be that way. People with amounts of money that we cannot fathom run our world and we have to just enjoy the ride...sad but true fact of life
Seems more like a message then a game to me. (And although Human Burners and M.A.D. are a bit over the top, the rest is all to true.)
As for Oil... The moment it becomes to expensive to sell at a profit, and that might be in a relatively near future, it'll more and more get phased out for other forms of energy. Because it will become more trouble then its worth.
Of course that said, the whole Iraq war and numerous other atrocities, all oil barons. Might be nice to execute a few oil C.E.O.'s. Rich people get away with just about everything, and what sort of an example does that said? Maybe for good measure a civilization should every once in a while completely eradicate its overclass.
I mean, look at the french revolution? Sure it was very bloody, and it initially clunked along quite a bit. But in the long run, it was an important stepping stone to democracy in Europe!
Killing your overclass regularly is healthy.

i spent the entire time tryiny to blow up the world but i got to year 2050 or 60 somthing and i retire because there is no need for oil any more. i wanted to be evil.
for me i had no respect for the environment or people i sent troops to iraq i killed all the rebels in nigeria i killed all the traitors in america killed all rebels in venezuala killed all the animals in alaska and then at the end of the game it said i started M.A.D. (mutually asured destruction) because i created a world war over the oil resources and now i sit in my penthouse thinking about my role in this destuction

this is kind of lame since it stops progressing at a certain point and you have a very very limited area for doing stuff in, filled everything but water with human burners and demand skyrocketed, oil production stayed still, and it went retarded. if it was more realistic you'd be able to set the price to affect demand or at the very least make the human burners produce more by burning more people
the way to win is furst drill every well and let them git to a low level in oil the ndestroy every well ever oil all the presadents and stop sinding troups to iraq then click pass the days stop oiling presadents and pass all the years you can till it stops you and says the world is safe you stoped the world from being oil dependent.

Played it, made my drillers everywhere, and died around 2050. Did you know that in the years around 2050 if we keep going the way we are there will be so much CO2 (around 750 ppmv) in the air and we will suffocate and die? Well maybe not that bad, but who knows? oil is good, but too much of anything is unhealthy =P.
Oil is good, very good. I challenge any anti-oil activist to go one month without using any oil related products. They would go naked, cold, and starve.
