When you’re lost in the wilderness with a camera crew and actually only 500 feet from the highway, you need to eat what you can to survive, like giant rhino beetle larvae.

always remember folks: bear shows you what to do in the wilderness to survive, he's done it, it works. les stroud goes into the wilderness and actually survives for a few days. the difference? les's crew is a few miles away from him at all times, bear's is with him. does that really mean anything? no, not really. they both do things that suck to show the rest of us that it's possible. also, whens the last time you watched les stroud jump out of a helicopter?
Rhino beetle larva - this part of a balanced breakfast!
I feel sorry for Bear Gryles, he's eaten a snakes, insects, rabits, and even a scorpian...
I'd quit if i were him. =o
Also- Admin, i forgot the password to my Account "Niruzz"...
nika, you're such a bug nerd, its awesome.
agree with title.. ew
I don't know what exactly did he mean by a 'really long time' but big coleoptera insects can be in a larval stage for several years.
The biggest one he ate looked like it'd be transiting into pupae phase of development very soon.
I also question his statement that it had been living in there a "really long time"...the larval stage only lasts so long.
It's such a shame he ate that, I love rhino beetles. :(
Ah, glad I ate my breakfast before watching this.
It's pretty nasty when that things head bursts open and guts fly out and hang out of Bear's mouth.
