Speaking as a software engineer, all I can say to this is “Huhwah?”.

lolwhat. I'm glad I have friends who know why this is funny.

Although, in high school, I used to use VB to make a basic web browser to get to disallowed websites. This was before they got savvy enough to get a decent firewall though.

i'll create a GUI using visual basic and try to make a BLT, but it's going to get messy...

y'know, i'm the only one of all my friends who understood why that doesn't make sence. It's nice to know there are other computer nerds out there who think this is funny

Sweet merciful crap - there's one for right there. Obviously the writers pulled out their "Computer Buzzwords for Complete Morons" books when they were writing this scene...

Huhwah? It's like she's saying she'll build a steering wheel that'll take you to LA and back.

VBA is for Office, and you can use VB for more general-purpose apps.

What? Why would you need to create a GUI at all to track down a single IP address? There's no similarities at all between what she needs to do and what she's doing, except that creating a GUI would make it easier for an end-user to enable a program used for tracking an IP address. Why not just, oh, I don't know...use a pre-existing IP tracking program?

Further proof that shows like this will just use impressive sounding jargon to fill in a script.

except for the improbability of using EXCEL to track down an ip address.

isn't VB just for office? or is that VBA? they're all so lame its hard to remember

What she is saying is that she is going to use visual basic (programing language) to make a graphical user interface to track down the ip address. It makes a little bit of sense, kinda.
