I woke up the next day still laughing. I must say, the routine was ridiculously well planned though. That kid's going to be something one day.

By the way, stopping spontaneously to watch some breakdancers or other street performers is not uncommon in NYC. The mother most likely didn't anticipate getting a free show at a train station during her commute. I do agree with what ShadoCrytr said--the mother's reaction in this situation was quick, just not quick enough.

WOW! I know I shouldn't laugh but when that kid went flying I let out an 'OH...!' and then clamped a hand over my mouth before I cursed.

I'm always afraid that's gonna happen to me whenever I walk past the breakdancing people at my school. :( But they're so much fun to watch! Poor kid though...
obviously, the kid wanted something on the other side of the crowd (a friend, a balloon, a Sony store playing Shrek, who knows?), ran away from mommy to go look, mommy tries to get kid's attention, kid stops to look back at why mommy could *possibly* want to prevent him from going to see this amazing thing and *wham!*. The mother is half to blame for not keeping better control and for causing the kid to stop exactly where he needed to to get kicked in the head. I laughed.
i'll tell you what happened, that kid got rocked. thats what happened. this guy in my office goes "oh i've seen this, that guy faceplants" and i laughed at him for assuming he knew what was up.
It happened in an instant, no one had a chance to do anything.
Poor kid, but honestly who sits there and decides, "I should let my child run out there towards the breakdancer, because that would be the most logical thing to do."

i saw that kid on the news yesterday, but he's in critical condition. i saw the vid on hi-def on the news, and if you look closely, you can see 2 teeth getting knocked the hell out. DAMN!!!
